BOUGHTON, Donald Ross (Donny) - Born September 8, 1931 and passed December 5, 2018 after a lengthy and courageous battle with Dementia. Donny was preceded by his loving wife of 61 years, Florence (Flo). Donny will be missed by his children Brad, Scott (Jeanne) and Karen (Doug), as well as his grandchildren Jaime (Kevin), Leslie and great-grandson Emmett. Donny (Dad) you will always be lovingly remembered and will remain in our hearts, thoughts and memories forever. A special thank you to the caring and compassionate Doctors, Nurses, Staff and Volunteers at The Lodge at Broadmead, you are all truly amazing. At Donny's request there will be no service.
Donny, along with his brother Benjamin, joined the Navy at HMCS Tecumseh (Calgary) in March 1951. His brother Benjamin had previously served in the Navy during WW2 and was demobilized at the end of the war. Donny did his seamanship training on the east coast aboard HMCS Crescent. He was then drafted back to Esquimalt, and then to HMCS Athabaskan for deployment to Korea as gunner. Later on in his career he transferred trades and became a Bos'n, completing his career at HMCS Naden Fleet School, Seamanship Division. Retired after 22 1/2 years service.
