BLINCH, Harry Clifford, AB, 4265, RCN, MPK - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gerner Blinch, Abbotsford, BC.
AB Blinch died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN G07, was sunk in the English Channel on April 29, 1944. The province of British Columbia honoured Able Seaman Blinch by naming Blinch Lake in his honour.

Note: HMS SPARTIATE was a shore establishement, based at the St Enoch Hotel, was responsible for safety and security on the river from Port Glasgow, along the dredged channel, to the limit of navigation in Glasgow.
