After the war Jim returned to PEI where he fished lobster and was a licensed carpenter. He died in 1984 from cancer.

Jim (left) and his son Avard who served in the reserves. This photo was photo shopped for Avard as a birthday present long after his father passed so as to have a photo of the two of them together in uniform.
