SILVER,  Fredie Gorman - On February 12, 2003, I lost my best friend and loving husband of 41 years. My children Stephanie, Fred, Tina and Shawn lost their wonderful father. Ron, Nancy, David and Kim lost a terrific father-in-law, and our grandchildren Charles, Michelle, Emily, Dylan, Connor, Sarah, Kate, Madison and Jacob lost their Grampy. Fred died in a placed he loved, his woodlot in Lake Pleasant. It was the place he went to grieve for his lost mother Florence, sister Elmeda, and parents-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce. He loved to hear the wind whistling through the trees and the birds singing and to watch the deer feeding outside his camp door. Fred was born in Springfield, Annapolis County, son of the late Florence and Wesley Silver. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in Swift Current, Saskatchewan in November 1959. During his eight year career in the Navy, he served on the HMCS St. Croix and was among the commissioning crew of the HMCS Provider. In 1968, Fred transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force, and from that time until his retirement in 1985 our family moved back and forth across Canada numerous times. After his retirement, Fred worked at South Shore Ready Mix, and then became Manager of Fred’s Irving in New Germany. Fred was a member of the Reserve Unit in Bridgewater until his retirement in 1997, and was a member of St. John’s in the Wilderness Anglican Church. Fred will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey and Mona, Springfield, and Gordon and Terry, Round Hill, his sister Betty and her husband Max, Dartmouth and brother-in-law Donald, West LaHave. His loss is also felt by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, neighbours and friends. A celebration of Fred’s life was held on February 16, 2003 at St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church.

Cards of Thanks: It is hard to put into words our feelings of appreciation to all the family and friends who helped us with words of comfort, hugs, calls, visits, flowers to our home, fruit baskets, cards, e-mails, and countless meals after Fred’s tragic death. Thank you to Reverend Catherine Robar, Janet Tipert, the church choir, organist Lana Veinotte, piper Sandy MacMillan, and the honour guard from Greenwood, all who played an important role in the celebration of Fred’s life. Thank you to Adam Tipert and Sweeny’s Funeral Home for making things as easy as possible in a difficult situation. Thank you to the members of the ACW for the delicious lunch provided after the service. We were also very moved by the overwhelming number of memorial donations made in Fred’s name to the St. John’s in the Wilderness Hall and various other churches and charities. Thank you to all who contributed so generously in Fred’s memory. May God’s love always shine on each and every one of you who shared in the joy of Fred’s life and who share now in our sorrow after his death. Carolyn and Family.
