BENESH, Leo - Suddenly in the Memorial Pavilion, on September 24, 1993, age 74 years. Born in Alberta on July 11, 1919. A loving husband, father and grandfather, his presence will be deeply missed by his family, his devoted wife of 51 years, Mary; son, Edward and wife Miriam of Kamloops; daughter, Sheila and husband, Richard Jones of Maple Ridge; grandchildren Aadon and Carolynn Jones; nieces and nephews. Leo joined the RCN as a boy seaman in 1936 and proudly served his country overseas during the Second World War. He retired after 25 years of service and was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Prince Edward Branch No 91, and a member of the Chiefs and Petty Officers Association. Mass well be celebrated in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 798 Goldstream Ave. on Tuesday, September 28, at 10 a.m. Monseigneur M. O'Connell celebrant. The family requests remembrances be in the form of donations to the Chiefs and Petty Officers Association, 615 Admirals Road, Victoria, BC or to the charity of one's choice.
