They made the Ultimate Sacrifice
MacKENNEY, Arnold Valentyne, SA, V42713, RCNVR, killed - 22 Aug 2944, HMS NABOB - son of William A. and Mary MacKenney; husband of Jennie MacKenney; all of Vancouver, BC; brother of Leslie Floyd MacKenney of Halifax and George Laurence MacKenney of Vancouver.
SA MacKenney died when his ship, HMS NABOB, was hit by a torpedo from U-354 which resulted in the loss of 21 of NABOB'S crew. NABOB made it back to port but was never repaired. She was later paid off and sold for scrap.
SA MacKenney is buried in the Douglas Bank Cemetery, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.
