Born: 13 Jul 1954          Died: 11 Apr 2019

KING, Chester Guy - Born July 13, 1954. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Chester Guy King, age 64. After his final and most courageous battle, Chester passed peacefully at home with his loved ones by his side on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Not a day went by where you wouldn't hear Chester describe every day as a gift, full of sunshine and endless possibilities. He lived as one could only dream. Chester was predeceased by his father, Guy King; his sister, Glenys King; and brother-in-law, John Hanley. He is survived by his mother, Mary King; wife, Deborah Henley; and stepdaughters, Laura and Callie Bullock; his daughters, Stephanie (Bear) Swain and Angela (Gordon) Hire, and their mother Dawn LeGrow. He will be forever loved and missed by his grandchildren whom taught him as much as he taught them, Creighton, Lola Love, Sephora, Hawksley; and step granddaughter, Cadence. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Winnie Hanley, Len (Sally) King, Lois (Gary) Ford, Scott (Gina) King, David (Elaine) King; many nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friend, Joe LeGrow. He served our country for 27 years with the Canadian Navy, after retiring he went on to work for Dalhousie University as a Naval Engineering Instructor. The last 15 years Chester had worked for Weir Marine Engineering in the Naval Engineering Test Establishment (NETE) building everlasting relationships with his colleagues. Chester travelled extensively over the years but "home is where the heart is" and his belonged in Bauline, N.L., where every sunset warmed his soul. Growing up he learned to farm and fish from his father, but his compassion for others he inherited from his mother. Chester was warm, fun-loving and had a real knack for storytelling. Chester enjoyed sailing and riding his motorcycle with his best friend and brother-in-law Gary Ford. His Saturday mornings included breakfast with good friends, Ernie, Joe, Alain, and Gary. Special thanks to the many friends and family who helped and supported Chester on his journey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Donald K. Walker Funeral Home. Committal of ashes at sea to take place at a later date. Visitation will take place Monday, April 15th from 7-9 p.m. in Bedford United Church, 1200 Bedford Hwy., Bedford, where the funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 16th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Katie Aven officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Bedford United Church, Canadian Cancer Society, Hope Cottage or charity of choice. Family flowers only please. "Live long and prosper" - Spock.

Chester served in the Navy as Weapons Under Water (WU) and Naval Weapons Tech (NWT) before Commissioning from the Rank and becoming as CSE Officer. He retired as a Lt (N).
