CATO, Robert Alan (Bob) (KATO) - Passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, July 23, 2006. He is survived by his beloved wife Maureen and her children Julia and Richard, Lorrie Cato, the mother of his children, Nancy, Michael and Wendy, his grandchildren Leanne, Jenessa, Serina, Lily, Charlotte, Nathaniel, Eleanor and Imogen, great grandchildren Sarah and Joelle and his sister Marion Kato. He was among other things, a decorated Naval Officer, a Boy Scout Leader and the Fire Chief for Tofino. He touched many lives in many ways. There is a service at the Eagle Hall in Ladysmith at 2pm, Saturday, August 5. (Victoria Times Colonist 02 Aug 2006)

Bob enlisted in the RCN on 03 Aug 1946 and retired on 08 Mar 1975.
