POTTS, Thomas Edmund - predeceased by his wife Enid Helen (Slack). Potts, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre Ottawa, ON. Tom was a long-time resident of Grand Bay-Westfield. Born on September 19, 1925 in Saskatoon, SK, he was a son of the late Thomas Edmund and Florence Emily (Cuevas) Potts. He was educated at the Bedford Road Collegiate, SK and George Williams College, Chicago where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Health Education. He served in the RCNVR during WWII on HMCS Kamloops, HMCS Crusader and HMCS Uganda. He was employed with the Canadian YMCA as Physical Director and Executive Director for 32 years until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of Church of the Resurrection, Canadian YMCA and an Honorary Member of Saint John Y’S Men’s Club. He was self-reliant, an accomplished gardener, spoon player, BBQ king, problem solver, loved Christmas carols, made wicked go-carts and enjoyed a “sipper” with his friends. He is survived by daughters, Linda Curtis (William “Bill”) of Lewiston, NY , Catherine Potts (Brenda Hay) of Kanata, ON, brother-in-law Allan G. Slack (Gail) of Okotoks AB, sister-in law Donna Slack of Swan River, MB, daughter-in-law Jessica Taylor-Potts of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Alec Curtis, Lara Curtis and Nadia Potts plus numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he is predeceased by son, Dr. Jeffrey Potts and bother-in-law Donald Slack. Cremation has occurred and there will be a funeral service and interment in Westfield, N.B. at a later date.
