BARTLETTE, Ronald - On April 14, Jesus tapped Ron on the shoulder and said "Let's go". Born in St. Boniface, Ron moved to St. James when he was five. At the age of 18, Ron joined the navy in Halifax, NS and travelled extensively on a DDH ship called the Fraser. Following the navy, Ron's love of teaching led him to provide instruction for adult education upgrading at the University of Winnipeg and Red River Community College. In 1979, one of his student's at RRCC led Ron to Jesus. From there, Ron attended Providence Bible College. Upon leaving Providence, Ron me the love of his life, Linda Mae, and began a 40 year love affair. From this love affair came two wonderful sons, Corban (Heather) and Taylor-James who he loved and adored to the day of his passing. Ron and Linda's son, Jordan, went to heaven 30 years ago. Ron will be missed by his brother Doug. Ron entered the field of social services working in group homes and Marymound. From there Ron was offered a contract to work with Canada Packers to provide transitional services to older employees. In 1989, Ron became the Executive Director of the Winnipeg Transition Centre which still thrives today offering support for marketing oneself to find work, Career Employment Coach Certificate, Facilitation Skills Certificate and customized workshops. Ron's legacy includes his professional development training that inspired and contributed to teaching employment counsellors to deal effectively with all kinds of unemployed participants. Ron was humbled by the opportunities he had been given to lead the WTC and work with so many passionate and gifted staff for the past 30 years. When Ron began the WTC he never expected to provide service, not only in Winnipeg, but across Canada. Ron was a man of great humour (dry). He was kind and gentle and very respectful to all. Ronnie loved and served Jesus with all his sense of being and was excited to be going home. Ron touched many people's lives. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their tremendous gratitude to CancerCare Victoria Hospital, Dr. Eren Beshara, and the Palliative Care Unit in St. Boniface. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave Street, on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. If people so choose, in lieu of flowers, Ron has requested donations be made in his name to Teen Challenge. (Winnipeg Free Press 20 Apr 2019)
