DEMERS, Roger, OS, V43549, RCNVR, died - 19 Jan 1944, HMCS PRINCE HENRY - Son of Joseph and Antoinette Demers, of AB.

 

Ordinary Seaman Demers accidentally drowned at Cristobal, Canal Zone, Panama. He went ashore on a short leave and reported back to HMCS PRINCE HENRY at 10:30 pm. When the ships company assembled later in the morning next day Ordinary Seaman Demers absence was noticed and an extensive search was made immediately but without success. Roger Demers body was recovered from the dock at which the ship had been berthed on January 19, 1944.  OS Demers is buried in the Corozal American Military Cemetery, Panama.
