BOEHLER, Stanley William, Sto, V 36704, RCNVR, died - 17 Aug 1943, HMCS PRINCE ROBERT - son of Otto and Minnie Boehler, of Choiceland, SK. Husband of Eleanor Boehler, of Montreal, QC.
Stoker Stanley William Boehler took ill and died at sea on 17 Aug 1943 from peritonitis caused by perforated peptic ulcer. He died during surgery and was buried at sea the same day. Stoker Boehler was the son of Otto and Minnie (Mantei) Boehler who came to Meadow Lake from the Gretna Emerson area of Manitoba, later moving to Choiceland, Saskatchewan. Stanley left a wife Eleanor (Haig) at Montréal.
Ships served in: HMCS UNICORN - Enlisted 30 Mar 1942. Commenced active service 10 Jun 1942 HMCS GIVENCHY - Served in GIVENCHY 15 May 1943 - 18 Jun 1943 as a Sto 2c, RCNVR HMCS PRINCE ROBERT - Drafted to PRINCE ROBERT 19 Jun 1943 as a Sto 2c, RCNVR. Rated A/Sto 1c 09 Aug 1943.
