Harris Haliburton Himmelman

 

Chief Skipper, RCNR

 

Died: 18 Aug 1992, Richmond, British Columbia

 

Harris Himmelman was a witnesses in the sinking of the Lunenburg based schooner 'Flora Alberta' which was cut in two by the 407 foot steamer Fanad Head of Belfast, steaming in a convoy, in dense fog off Sable Island with heavy loss of life in regards to the schooner. Harris was transferred to the Halifax Harbour Pilotage Authority and was called to give evidence in relation to hearing on fog signals. (Source: Collision At Sea by Gregory P. Prichard)

RCN BARRACKS HALIFAX (for disposal or training) - Appointed to RCN Barracks Halifax 11 Oct 1940 as Ch Skpr, RCNR (Navy List Nov 1940)

HMCS MURRAY STEWART - Appointed to Murray Stewart 11 Jan 1941 as Ch Skpr, RCNR (Navy List Feb 1941)

 

He was released to the Halifax Pilotage Service 1942 (The Nauticapedia)
