Died: 04 Feb 2004

 

DUNBAR, Roy - Born in Windsor Ontario February 27, 1933, passed away February 4, 2004 at home peacefully surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with prostate cancer. Predeceased by his parents and brother Don. He leaves his beloved wife, Margaret (Andrews), of 50 years; three beloved sons, Steven (Erin), David (Leslie), and Michael (Ana Maria); six adored granddaughters, Ceilidh, Bronwyn, Jacqueline, Amanda, Kathleen, and Ainsley; as well as many relatives and friends. Roy served in the Navy 1950-1975, his last posting was as Coxswain of HMCS Restigouche. There was no service at Roy's request. Donations can be made in Roy's name to The Canadian Cancer Society - Prostate Cancer Research. "He Will Live In Our Hearts Forever" (The Vancouver Sun 14 Feb 2004)

 

Roy served in the Navy from 1950 to 1975, taking his release shortly after integration of the Canadian Forces.

HMCS FRASER - Served in Fraser 28 Jun 1957 - 16 Apr 1961 as a PO2 and PO1, RCN.  Rated PO1 01 Jun 1960

HMCS SKEENA - Served in Skeena 07 May 1962 - 12 Jul 1962 as a PO1, RCN

HMCS YUKON - Served in Yukon 17 May 1965 - 17 Dec 1967 as a CPO2, RCN, I/C Radar Branch

HMCS MACKENZIE - Served in Mackenzie 08 Jan 1971 - 16 Jun 1971 as a CPO1, C.A.F. (in refit)
