WILLDEY, Jack Reginald, LCdr (L) , O-78163, RCN, died 03 Oct 1958, HMCS CHAUDIERE - Son of John and Beatrice Kathleen (née Potts); husband of Mary Antonia (nee Davis) Willdey and father of Maureen, Thomas and Patricia Willdey of Windsor, ON.

Jack enlisted in the RCN as an Ordinary Seaman on 11 Oct 1932. He Commissioned from the Ranks and was appointed as a Warrant Telegrapher, RCN, with seniority dated 10 Jan 1944. Jack died of multiple injuries, including a fractured skull, as a result of falling from the mast of HMCS CHAUDIERE. He is buried in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, NS.
Funeral Announcement: The funeral of Lieut-Cmdr. John Reginald Wildey, who was killed Friday evening when he fell from the foremast of HMCS Chaudiere under construction at Halifax Shipyards, will be held at Christ Church, Windsor, Tuesday at 3p.m. Rev. Hastings Wainwright will officiate, assisted by Rev. Mortimer, chaplain at Stadacona. Interment will be in Maplewood cemetery. Commander Wildey was born at Camrose, Alberta, son of Mrs. T. (Solfleet) and the late John Wildey. He rose from the ranks, and served as Lieut-Cmdr. during the Second World War. Besides his mother, hi is survived by his wife, the former Miss Marry Davis, Ottawa, living at Windsor; two daughters, Maureen, Student nurse at Payzant Memorial Hospital; Patricia and a son Thomas, students at Windsor Academy, and a brother William, Vancouver.
