RIDDELL, William Murray - died suddenly in Saskatoon on September 19, 1998. He was 73 years old. Murray served with the RCNVR on HMCS Huron, a tribal class destroyer on the Murmansk run and other naval escort duties before entering the College of Agriculture in 1945. HE continued his education with a Certificate in Business Administration from the U of S in 1962 and in Advanced Management from the Banff School in 1971. After graduation from the college Murray work briefly for the Dominion Economics Division, Agriculture Canada, then until 1967 with Chipman Chemicals before being appointed administrative assistant to the dean of Western College of Veterinary Medicine, a position he held until retirement in 1989. Murray was a great friend to all who knew him and a devoted supporter of the university. He was president of the Sask. Ag Grad Association in 1964 and was named Honorary Life Member n 1970. He served a president of the U of SD Alumni Association and of the Saskatoon Exhibition Association. Murry was predeceased by his parents, Alma and George Riddell; sisters Muriel McDonald and Elta Farnsworth and brother Hugh Riddell. he is survived by his loving wife Betty C. Riddell (née Welcher) '49BSP, sister-in-law Irene Riddell, nieces and nephews.
