BARRON, Percy Andrew - 87, Guysborough, formerly of West Arichat, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2005, in Milford Haven Home in Guysborough with his loving family by his side. Born in Ingonish, he was a son of the late George and Bridgette (Whitty) Barron. He served in the navy during the Second World War and sailed aboard the HMCS OSS NORMAN from Halifax and throughout Europe. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury, and Knights of Columbus Council 4607, West Arichat. In his early years he was a sword fisherman fishing out of Ingonish. He later became a welder working for various companies, the last of which was the Rowan Company on the Oil Rigs off Sable Island, up until his retirement in 1975. He will be sadly missed by his special dog Wednesday. He is survived by daughters, Dianne Humprey (Gary), Georgina Burke, both of Sydney; Aldona Bartlett (Barry), Oshawa, Ont.; Carmen Barron and companion Kevin MacDonald, Boylston; special family member, Della Dorey (George), West Arichat; sisters, Deloris "Lowie" Peters, Mary "Maimie" Peterson, both of Sydney; Isabelle Barrett, Kitchener, Ont.; brothers, Sanford "Gussie", Kitchener, Ont.; George "Leo" (Alice), Oakville, Ont.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Genevieve (Forgeron); sister, Katherine; brothers, Irving, Sylvester, Eugene, Nick, and Walter. His remains are resting in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat, with visitation today and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the Life of Percy will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, West Arichat, with Rev. Stephane Gamache officiating, burial to follow in Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery, West Arichat. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. (Halifax Herald 16 Feb 2005)
