Died: 06 Dec 1994, Chester, Nova Scotia

 

BARKHOUSE, Lloyd DeWitt - 72, Chester, died December 6, 1994, at home. Born on Tancook Island, he was a son of the late John Henry and Beulah (Wilson) Barkhouse. In his early years, he was employed at MacLean Shipyard, Mahone Bay, and served as shipwright in the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1945 he joined his father and brother in boat building at East Chester and was employed at Bluenose Boat Yard for many years. He was a member and deacon of Chester United Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Rose Langille; sons, Wayne, Cold Lake, Alta; John, Marriotts Cove; Tony, Halifax; daughter, Carolyn, Halifax; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in United Baptist Church, Rev. Brian Keezer and Dr. M. Allen Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Chester. Donations may be made to United Baptist Church, Chester Volunteer Fire Department or Canadian Cancer Society.
