Died: 23 May 2014, West Green Harbour, Nova Scotia

 

BURKE, Clayton Russell - 74, West Green Harbour passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2014 with family and friends by his side. Born in West Green Harbour, he was a son of the late Royce and Pearl (Johnson) Burke. Clayton’s early years were spent in the Canadian Navy but spent most of his working life as a fisherman. He passed his love of the sea to his sons and grandson. This spring, Clayton enjoyed a 55 year reunion, sharing memories with three of his shipmates from HMCS Cape Scott. During his retirement Clayton enjoyed reading about history, listening to music, beach combing and spending time with his grandson. Clayton will always be remembered as a quiet and thoughtful man, always willing to help when needed. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Bonnie; sons, Adam, Little Harbour; Peter (Fabyan), West Green Harbour; and his precious grandson, Patrick, Osborne; sisters, Erma Seaboyer, Sable River; Shirley Dawe (Hector), Dartmouth; brother, Leaman (Arlene), Liverpool, and mother-in-law, Jessie Williams, Clyde River. Visitation will take place Sunday, May 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport. The funeral service will take place on Monday, May 26 at 2 p.m. in Holy Cross Anglican Church, Lockeport with Rev. Robert Richmond officiating. Burial in Lower St. Peters Cemetery, West Green Harbour. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
