For Posterity's Sake A Royal Canadian Navy Historical Project
In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BUTTON, Fred John - It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved husband Fred on September 1, 2013. I will miss him terribly but I know he is now at peace and out of pain after a year long battle with lung cancer. He died at home, as was his wish. Our good friends Wayne and Donna Malfait and Sheryl Urquhart helped to make his last days much easier. Fred is survived by his wife Molly and many good friends. He retired from the navy after 21 years as a submariner and enjoyed many careers after. He owned Tip Toe Roofing, worked for the CRD, BC Ferries and finally the Coast Guard. When he finally retired again he and Molly went on many cruises to many parts of the world and made many friends during these cruises who he kept in contact with. Fred had a cheeky sense of humour and drew people to him. I would like to thank Wayne and Donna Malfait and Sheryl Urquhart for their unfailing support. I would also like to thank the nurses from the Peninsula Health Unit and the Palliative Response Team, they are angels. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday September 14, 2013.
