In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
DOYLE, Gerald Joseph (Gerry) (Dolly) - age 75 of Lower Sackville crossed the bar to Fiddler’s Green on 29 July 2019. Born in Glace Bay, NS, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruth Doyle of Little Dover, NS. Gerry joined the RCN as a Boatswain in 1962, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, camping in his van and a game of pool or darts. He is survived by wife Dawn (Higgins); son J.J. (Stacy) and grandsons Kian and Ruari of Hammonds Plains; sisters Karen (Ralph) Landry, Lower Sackville; Theresa (Phil) Turnbull, Halifax and sister-in-law Verna Doyle, Little Dover, NS. Gerry is also survived by his mother-in-law Helen Higgins; and sisters-in-law, Wendy (Don) Himelman, Jeanne and Melanie Higgins, Middle Musquodoboit. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother Eddie and father-in-law Gordon Higgins. In addition to family we would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Jeff Champion; Dr. Chris MacKnight; Derrick Shillington; Angela MacDonald; the staff at the Heart Function Clinic (especially Paula Yeates); Continuing Care; the VON (particularly Michelle); and the Bayshore staff. We also want to express our sincere appreciation to neighbours Ramona and Joe for their kindness and support during these difficult years. Cremation has taken place with a burial at sea at a later date. There will be no visitation or service at Gerry’s request. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J.
