HANSON, Robert (Bob) - Passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 26, 2019 at the age of 91 years. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Elsie (nee MacKnight) of 62 years. Proud father of Steven Hanson (Sheryl Parks), Louise Hanson (Larry Chin), David Hanson (Jennifer Dupuis) and Philip (Nicole) Hanson. Cherished Grandpa to Amanda, Brianna, Evan, Emma, Rachel, Trevor and step-grandpa to Abbigale, Derek, Matilda, Abby, Jessica, Rachael, Matthew and cherished Poppy to Micheal. Survived by his sister, Frances Hanson. Bob was a proud veteran of Royal Canadian Navy. He was a long time employee of the City of Windsor and a lifelong member at St Barnabas Anglican Church. Bob was a hardworking fun loving man; an avid trumpet player and a member of many local bands, including the Timeless Tunes and Dorothy Anderson’s Band. He also loved to play darts and was a member of “Tuesday Night Darts” league for the last several years. The family would like to extend out a special thank you to the staff of Chartwell-Oak Park for their care and compassion over the last 5 years, his long-time family physician, Dr. DeMarco, Dr. Evoy and the staff of WRH – Ouellette Campus. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E 519.253.7234 on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 3-5 & 7-9pm. A Veterans service will take place at 7:30pm under the auspices of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee. A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11am. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Bob served in the RCN from 1953 to 1956.
