DUBE, Joseph Jean-Paul - It is with our heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Jean-Paul Dube on September 24, 2019 at the Admiral Longterm Care Facility in Dartmouth. He was born in Coaticook, Quebec on April 21, 1934. He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years Vivian Hazel Mae (Jewers) Dube; parents Saluste and Leonie (Ducharme) Dube, in-laws Zelma and Neil Jewers; siblings Hugette Dube, Pauline Pivin, Denis Dube; sisters-in-law Brenda, Irene, Nola, Elizabeth, Esther, Muriel; brothers-in-law Isaac, Edgar, Burnell, Neil, Winston, Bartlett, Lorne, William Stacey, Warren, William Hape, Jack, Joseph, Victor and Ronald. Jean-Paul is survived by daughters Carole Baxter (Jim), Juanita Henneberry (Jim), Charmaine Dexter (Rick); son Jean-Paul (Angela); grandchildren Amber, Jessica, Josh, Nicholas, Cassandra, Kayla, Elizabeth, Lucas, Austin (AJ), Rachel; great grandchildren Alexander, Gracie, Violet and River. Jean-Paul is also survived by brother Jacques and sisters-in-law Claire, Rhodessa, Loretta, Francis, Barbara, Dorothy, Margaret and Thelma. Many nieces and nephews. He joined the military at an early age on October 26, 1951 and retired in July 1976. During his career he was on many ships and participated in Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. He played tuba for the Royal Canadian Naval Band for his entire career. Upon retirement he joined the naval reserve band. Jean-Paul was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #95 in Bedford. He was an avid dart player and bowler. He held numerous high level positions including vice-president for his branch. He volunteered for Tuesday night bingo games and crib tournaments. Jean-Paul loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. The family would like to thank the staff of the Admiral Long Term Care Facility for their care, concern and professionalism during his 9 ½ years with them. He was an active member of the resident council, weekly bingo, gentleman’s club, and many other activities. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Atlantic Funeral Home (771 Main St, Dartmouth) on Monday, September 30, 2019 from 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place from the Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth Chapel on Tuesday, October 1st at 1pm with reception to follow in the funeral homes Oceanview Lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and would be greatly appreciated.
