RITCEY, Norman Creighton - 74, Tatamagouche, died March 31, 1998, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site. Born in Musquodoboit Harbour, he was the son of the late James and Theodosia (Harpell) Ritcey. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War as a crew member of the Haida. After his service he resided in Dartmouth and was employed as a paymaster with Halifax Shipyards until his retirement. He was a member of the Sunrise Beach Golf and Country Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 64, Tatamagouche and enjoyed bowling and crib. He spent many summers at his cottage in Cape John. Surviving are his wife, the former Lenore Weatherbie (Greig); daughter, Barbara LaPierre (Bob), Porter's Lake; stepdaughters, Janey Hallett (Terry), Bedford; Carol Herbert (Tim), Bramalee, Ont.; stepson, John Greig, Tatamagouche; grandchildren, Deborah Dalton (Jim), David Wolfe (Heidi), Meghan Hallett, Kastie and John Herbert; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Jerad Wolfe; sisters, Hazel Webber (Donald) and Regina Jones, both of Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Dorothy Blank; brother, Owen; stepmother, Florence. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and legion tribute service will be conducted 2 p.m. today, April 2, in Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 64, Tatamagouche, Rev. Chalmers Hatcher officiating. Visitation and reception to follow in legion hall. Interment will be at a later date in Musquodoboit Harbour Community Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. Memorial donations may be made to North Shore Health Services Foundation or any charity. Arrangements entrusted to Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
