HANNON, William Edward - passed away on September 23rd, 2019 in Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 101. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was the son of William James and Alice Eva Hannon. Dad was in WWII - Navy, he was inducted into the Halifax Sports Hall of Fame for baseball, softball and hockey. He played for many years and then coached hockey, where he was respected and created strong teams. Dad was a very dedicated, driven, strong athlete. He like to tease people, tell stories, make people laugh and flirt with the nurses who took care of him. He was at Camp Hill for 16 months, but he made sure he kept the staff on their toes! We would like to thank all the amazing Doctors and Nurses for taking care of Dad at Camp Hill, for making his time there as comfortable and enjoyable as it could be. We are very grateful for the kindness and compassion they showed dad and all veterans at Camp Hill. When dad was younger, he enjoyed boating at his camp and fishing with his family and friends. Dad also enjoyed playing golf, bridge (cards), skating, reading, walking, he would make an ice rink in our backyard every winter where he taught us how to skate. Dad was survived by his daughters: Valerie Dawn Hannon and Beverly Eileen (Hannon) White, his grandchildren: Valeena Rose Hannon, Kim (White) Train (Andrew Train), Greg White (Lauren White), Jessie (White) Green (Mitchell Green), and Sam White. Also, by great-grandson Aiden William Train. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Eileen (MacMurdo) Hannon. Also dad's brothers: Harold Hannon, Walter Hannon (Gladys), Leonard Hannon (Marge), Robie Hannon (Alma) and dad's sisters: Jean (Hannon) Jones (Hugh Jones), Dorothy (Hannon) Sutherland (Cyril Sutherland), Madeline (Hannon) Innes (Francis Innes), Anne Hannon (Bill) and Marion (Hannon) MacNeil (Clarance MacNeil). And so many nieces, nephews, cousins , friends and amazing neighbours. Dad was loved, respected and admired by so many and we will miss him so much. There will be no visitation or funeral service as per his wishes. Private family/friends service only. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Jumpstart or Hockey Gods in honor of dad's love of sports.
