DESCHENES, Roland Joseph - Husband of the late Beverly Deschenes, passed away peacefully at his home in Windsor Junction, on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the wonderful age of 88. Rollie was born in 1931 in Grand Falls, N.B. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his son, Paul (Carmella) of Windsor Junction; daughters, Juanita (John) of Miramichi, N.B.; Karen (Brad) of Bear River; Susan (Dan) of Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Pamela, Robert, Dustin, Karly, Devan, Katrina, Kyle, Adam, Katie, Jeff and Leanne; and very special great-grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Maddie, Ben, Paisley, Annie, Aiden and Lachlan. Rollie was predeceased by Beverly, his loving wife of 60 years and his mother, Tony. Dad was a 25-year veteran of the Canadian Navy serving on the aircraft carriers Magnificent and Bonaventure. After retiring from the Navy, Dad worked various jobs until suffering a massive stroke at the age of 57. Despite his disability and limitations, Dad lived a long and rewarding life. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments. After his wife Beverly died in 2016, he moved in with his son Paul and his family. Paul was devoted to Dad and will truly miss him. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, November 8th at 2 p.m. Rollie's memory donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
