FRIZZELL, Wayne - It is with regret that I announce the passing of PO2(Ret) Wayne Frizzell (79) on the morning of 11 December 2019 at Dartmouth General Hospital. He is survived by his children MCpl Galen Frizzell, Lt(N) (Ret'd) Scott Frizzell and WO (Ret'd) Jennifer Gregory. The funeral will take place at Memorial Gardens, Dartmouth NS on Saturday 04 January 2020.
FRIZZELL, Wayne George - Age 79, of Lake Loon, passed away on December 11, 2019. Born in Port Wallace, he was a son of the late Hugh and Mary (Clarke) Frizzell. Wayne joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1956 as a Medical Attendant. He served on many ships which exist now only in the history books; such as HMC Ships Bonaventure, Margaree, Saguenay, Assiniboine, Huron and Sackville. Shore postings often found him working in the emergency department at HMCS Stadacona (CFB Halifax). Throughout his 33 plus years of service, Wayne saved countless lives. When he retired from the Navy, he was offered an opportunity to get his license to practice medicine, however, he declined the offer. Wayne joined the Corps of Commissionaires to keep himself busy. While a Commissionaire, he worked at the Pullen Building at CFB Halifax. In retirement, Wayne also dedicated time to The Royal Canadian Legion (Centennial, Dieppe, and Somme Branches) where he was involved with for over 30 years. Wayne was also a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Club on Main Street, Dartmouth. Most times, Wayne loved to put on his thinking cap and "putter" in the yard. It was his belief that it kept him out of mischief (Mom's hair). Wayne's most favourite thing to do was spend time with the love of his life, Arlene, and go on as many adventures together as possible. Wayne will be immensely missed by his family and friends. Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Arlene Francis (Seager) Frizzell. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gregory, Ottawa, Ont.; sons, Scott (Teena) Frizzell, Dartmouth; and Galen (Jennifer) Frizzell, Brighton, Ont.; and Kent Gregory, Halifax; grandchildren, Timothy, Richard, Lacey, Alison, Laurel and Celia Mae. He is also survived by his brother, Carney (Cerise) Frizzell, Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Hugh "Sinclair" Frizzell and Kenneth Frizzell. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, January, 3, 2020, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. The Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January,4th, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. Our family wishes to thank the awesome Nurses and Staff of 3 West at the Dartmouth General Hospital for the care they provided to our father during his final days. To Betty, Bonnie, and Elizabeth, thank you for providing exceptional care. To our family and friends, thank you for your support during this difficult time. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 16 Dec 2019)
