MacLEOD, John Henry, AB, DEMS Gunner, A2302, RCNR, died 06 Dec 1941, MV KOENJIT - Son of John Walter and Georgina C. MacLeod; brother of Ella G. MacLeod, of Westville, NS.

 

Able Seaman John Henry MacLeod joined the R.C.N.R. on July 09, 1940 and was a seaman on the Great Lakes before enlisting. He was a D.E.M.S. on M.V. Koenjit and died accidentally while serving as a gunner. He was injured as a result of falling in heavy seas and hitting his head on a 3" high iron border on the deck. He was taken to sick bay, he remained unconscious and was bleeding from his nose, mouth and ears, and he passed away that night. He was buried at sea.
