SHORT, James William - WWII, RCN, BA Queen's University, MA University of Ottawa. Jim passed away in Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Friday morning, December 18, 2009. Jim Short of Braeside Ontario in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Barbara (Bailey) Short of 62 years. Dear father of Rev. Peter Short ( Sue) of Fredericton, N.B., Lisa Falls (Gerry) of Arnprior, Bill Short of Aylmer P.Q., Tom Short (Cathy) of Yellowknife, Jimmy Short (Edna) of Arnprior, Paul Short of Yellowknife, and Ted Short (Pegi) of Kanata. Survived by 21 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters. Son of the late Harold Short and Dorothy McCreary A businessman, teacher, ski instructor, motorcycle safety instructor, Jim contributed to his community and his church and especially enjoyed his years singing in the choir. He loved family canoe trips in his voyageur canoe. He travelled coast to coast on his motorcycle and he spent many happy hours on his boat 'The Barbara' on his beloved Ottawa River. He cherished his wife Barbara, his family, his dogs and his Braeside home. A man of principle, devoted family man and sportsman, a keen political participant, Jim had a life well lived. Resting at The Boyce Funeral Home Ltd 138 Daniel Street N. Arnprior Friends may pay their respects on Monday December 21, 2009 from 1 to 3: pm. Funeral service will be held in The Boyce Chapel at 3: p.m. with Rev Dr Richard Hollingsworth officiating followed by a reception in The Boyce Reception Centre. Interment of cremated remains in Sand Point Public Cemetery at a later date. In memoriams to The Braeside United Church appreciated by his family.
