Torpedoman

Born: 03 Dec 1919, Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick

Died: 12 Nov 2003, Rusticoville, Prince Edward Island

STONE, Edgar - was born on December 3, 1918 and raised in Grand Manan. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II and served as a torpedo operator in the North Atlantic. It was during the war that he met and married Mary Bradley, a Charlottetown native working in Halifax at the time. After the war, they returned to Ross’ Island off Grand Manan where he managed a lobster pound. They later moved to Toronto where he worked as an electrician, always returning to the east coast on holidays. Their home in Toronto became a second home for other family members, always sure of a warm welcome and generous hospitality. Following Ed’s early retirement, they moved to Rusticoville, on a hill overlooking the harbour and the sea he loved so much. Ed had two daughters and two step-sons. Edgar passed away on November 12, 2003.
