CHAPMAN, David Hilton - Born March 15, 1926 in West Vancouver, passed away September 22, 2008 in Kelowna after a heroic fight with cancer. Left to mourn are his loving wife Val, his children Kathy Colbourn, Marian (Ted) Grimwood, David (Connie), Andrea, and Ruth, his stepson Stephen (Jacquie) Gye, and grandchildren Chris (Peggy), Morgan, Michael (Kim), Jane, Ben, Brittany, Beth, Will and Lee, great-grandsons Josh and Owen, and best friend Ralph Stinson. He will also be sorely missed by many golfing, skiing and fishing buddies. David served on the PRINCE ROBERT during WWII, apprenticed as a machinist, became an Int'l Rep with the Machinist's Union, served the provincial government as a member of the Labour Relations Board, the Board of Industrial Relations, the Human Rights Commission and the B.C. Rail Commission. He was appointed federally as Commissioner of the Canadian Transport Commission and the Anti-Inflation Board. He was later a Labour Relations Consultant to Simons Int'l and to Whistler Mountain Ski Corp'n. and in 2002 he received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. An ardent golfer, he was a member of Capilano G&C and Gallagher's G&C. In lieu of flowers, at David's request, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
