RADU, Harold - Peacefully, on December 30, 2004, after a brief illness, Harold Radu, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 80 years at the Concordia Hospital, with his wife Irene by his side. Besides his wife, Harold is survived by his two daughters, Dianna (Don) and grandson Michael, Brenda (Ross) and grandsons, Jason and Ryan; two sisters, Isabel Youck of Regina and Doreen Bjornson of Edmonton. Harold was born on September 14, 1924, in Regina, SK. Prior to his brief illness he resided at River East Personal Care Home (his home away from home). The staff were like family to him, and he enjoyed many happy times there. Many thanks to the caring staff on E Wing. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Pastor Larry Ulrich officiating. Interment to follow in the Field of Honor, Transcona Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Alzheimers Society or a charity of your choice. Dad, the struggle of life is over, and you now can rest in peace. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. (Winnipeg Free Press 04 Jan 2005)
The photo below is from the collection of John A. Marklinger. The sailor, 2nd from the left in the front row, is labeled as Radu. It is believed that he is Harold Radu, but need confirmation from the family to know for sure. If anyone can confirm whether or not this is Harold Radu in the photo, please send an email to FOR POSTERITY'S SAKE
