RANN, Walter Robert - age 87 of Fraser’s Mountain, passed away April 22, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Montreal, he was a son of the late Walter and Agnes (Stott) Rann. Walter moved to Stellarton in 1938. He was a former employee of Nova Scotia Power where he worked as a lineman. Walter was a former trumpet player with the New Horizons Senior Band and the Pictou County Brass and Reed Band. He was a member of Keith Masonic Lodge #23, Fuller Lodge #5 IOOF, the Elks Club in New Glasgow, former member of Maple Leaf Lodge Knights of Pythias, Admiral Murray Branch of RCNA and Branch #28 Royal Canadian Legion, Stellarton. He is survived by loving and devoted friend Kay Fortune, Westville; sisters Joyce George, Riverton; Aileen Rann, Halifax, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth “Bette” Petelka and special friend Jean Stewart. Cremation has taken place There will be no visitation or service at Walter’s request. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Thanks to Dr. Lee, the VON, the palliative care staff and 5th floor extended care staff. Donations in Walter’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
