BROWN, Kenneth Campbell - aged 76, died Friday, June 11, 1999. Ken was born December 4, 1922 in the Brock St. Home where he was raised. He attended Heath Park and FWCI before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy at the onset of WWII, serving in Corvettes in the North Atlantic. In 1947 he married Irene Olson and together they raised a loving family of eight children in the same Westfort Home. Throughout his years, Ken developed many lifelong friendships because of his selfless nature and generosity. He valued the simple pleasures, being especially fond of his garden, summer camp at Oliver lake, golfing and curling with his friends. His many grandchildren were a source of great joy and pride. Always active in sports, his younger years saw him play for numerous hockey teams, including the Westford Maroons, a team name he helped rejuvenate in the 1960's and would later go on to coach and manage, he also played broomball, as well as senior football for the Ukes. His working years were spent as a stationary engineer at Provincial Paper, Lakehead University and the Great Lakes Paper Co., from which he retired in 1985. Ken attended church regularly and was strengthened by his faith. A member of First Presbyterian Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6, Fort William Curling Club, (Senior Men) Past Member Fort William Country Club and Local 865 Int. Union of Operating Engineers. Predeceased by parents James and Annie, infant twin sons Peter & Paul, uncles Tom & Bob. He is survived by devoted wife of 52 years, Irene, sons James (Darlene - Holly, Cory), Larry, Robert (Debbie - Erika, Craig) John (Donna - Trevor, Rory), Glen (Teri - Cale, Cody, Cary) and daughters, Joanne Lyon (John - Curtis, Nelson, Conor, Trista), Beverley Mills (Wayne - Aylee, Cally, Brenner) Diane Morriseau (Tym Ketchabaw - Lyndsey, Ashley, Sarah and their Father James Morriseau, Loving brother John Brown (Ann - Janice, Margie) and relatives in Thunder Bay, B.C. and Scotland. A service will be held to celebrate the life of Kenneth Campbell (Jugger) Brown Tuesday, June 15, 1999, 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Officiated by Reverend Jim Patterson. In lieu of flowers donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church or other charity of their choice.
Ken was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star 1939-45, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal (CVSM) and the Defence Medal
