PICKETT, Thomas Art - a longtime resident of Thunder Bay (Sills St.), died peacefully at home at the age of 89 years, with his family by his side. Art was employed by the CNR as a conductor and retired after thirty nine years of service. Art was a Naval Veteran (RCNVR) and he also belonged to many clubs: Italian Society (DA VINCI CENTRE), Kakabeka Legion, lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, passed executive of Ortona Legion Branch 113, and President of XYZ Club. Art was an avid dart player and golfed right up into his 70's. He enjoyed carpet bowling, traveling, reading, drawing and gardening. Art is survived by his son Tom (Lynn) Pickett; daughter Norma (Doug) Honeysett; grandchildren: Tracy Pickett (of Toronto), Jaime and (David) Koivuranta (of Toronto), Kris Honeysett, and Tana Honeysett; great granddaughter Mia Koivuranta (of Toronto); sister-in-law Phyl Pickett; nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive, along with longtime friend Ruth Peever. He was predeceased by his wife Norma (1987); his parents Thomas and Alice Pickett; brother Sid; and sister Doris Hertz. Funeral Services for the late Art Pickett will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th, 2006 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Canon John Jordan. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Art's memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation, or to St. Joseph's Hospice. A special and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Miller, Dr. Davis, and especially to Dr. Mike Adams.
