MURPHY, Patrick Joseph - 81, died June 7, 2004, in Roseway Manor. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Thomas and Martha (Jaynes) Murphy. He served in the RCN Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War as a seaman on the Corvettes. Patrick worked for the Nova Scotia Government for 30 years in Old Roseway Hospital and Nova Scotia School for Boys. He was a member of St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Navy Society and the church choir. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Victoria (Oikle), Sandy Point; sons, Michael (Candace), Carlton Village; Patrick (Rebecca), Bridgewater; Thomas (Helen), Lower Sackville; daughter, Sandra Burke (Allan), Sandy Point; sister, Helen Bishop, Halifax; brother, Kenneth (Sarah), Halifax; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Edna; bother, Jack; daughter, Judy (Sears). Cremation has taken place. A Legion service will be held 7 p.m. with prayers to follow at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 10, in Huskilson's Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held in St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Friday, June 11, at 1 p.m., with burial of ashes in Upper Sandy Point Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Thomas Church or Roseway Manor.
