McKENZIE, Ralph George - A retired 45 year executive of Imperial Oil and a retired Lt. Cmdr. of the Royal Canadian Navy, WWII. Peacefully, at his home, in Oakville, on August 27, 2000, in his 92nd year. Ralph, beloved husband of Ruth of 60 years. Loved father of Patricia of Midland, Ontario and Kenneth and his wife Alison. Loving grandfather of Jeffrey, James, Suzanne and Jon, Michelle and her husband Andrew and Chris. Ralph is predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Private family service with arrangements entrusted to Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, Oakville. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice. (Globe and Mail 29 Aug 2000)
Ralph McKenzie served in the RCNVR during WW2 and was transferred to the RCN(R) retired list in 1946. He was promoted to LCdr while on the retired list.
Ships served in: HMCS KENOGAMI - Appointed to Kenogami 03 Aug 1942 as a Lt, RCNVR (Navy List Aug 1943). Appointed Commanding Officer. Served a CO 24 Feb 1944 - 09 Jul 1945 as a Lt, RCNVR. 3rd Commanding Officer (Macpherson / Burgess - Ship's of Canada's Naval Forces 1910-1981) HMCS YORK (Retired List) - as a LCdr, RCN(R) (Navy List Jan 1960)
