PICKELS, Aubrey Ravening - Aubrey was from Port Arthur, Ontario. He joined the RCNVR in 1939. In 1946 he transferred to the RCN(R) and in 1951 to the RCN. While serving in HMCS NANAIMO he was a LS and captain of the guns crew. Having Commissioned from Ranks, he served with Hugh Ashcroft in 1959-1960 and again when he had command of HMCS NEW GLASGOW. Hugh Ashcroft served under him as engineering officer in NEW GLASGOW. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He died in Toronto 26 Feb 1984.
