HOLLOHAN, James Roy - Peacefully at Carlingview Manor, after a brief illness, James Roy Hollohan passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Beloved son of Gertrude and the late Edmund Hollohan, cherished brother of Linda (Robert) and Tony (Linda), proud uncle of Holly (Byron), Lisa (Patrick) and great-nephews Callum and Brayden. He was predeceased by his nephew Byron. Jim was born in Badger, Newfoundland on June 1st, 1948. He moved to Toronto in 1950 and joined the Royal Canadian Navy as a Marine Engineer in September 1966. In February 1968, Jim completed submarine training in Fleet School Halifax. He served on the crew of the HMCS Okanagan that was commissioned on the 22nd of June 1968 in Chatham, England. Jim and the crew brought the sub back to Canada. Jim suffered a serious motor vehicle accident in 1969 and was honourably released from the Navy in December 1969. Jim spent many years in Mississauga where he was the recipient of the Civic Award of Recognition for his work in the community and he was a devoted member of St. Dominic parish. Jim moved to Ottawa with his mother in April 2008 and lived at Carlingview Manor for the past 8 years. A special thank you to the staff at Carlingview Manor for their love and kindness towards Jim. A private family service will be held at a later date. Jim was a submariner until the day he died.
