TALBOT, William (Sonny) - Age 83 of Glace Bay, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the CBRH, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Catherine (Mitchell) Talbot. Sonny served in the Royal Canadian Navy for several years and travelled all over the world; he was the C.O. at the Glace Bay Armouries and also the X.O. in Cornwallis, NS. He was a member of the RCL Branch 3, Glace Bay. After his military service Sonny was employed at the Heavy Water Plant (Atomic Energy of Canada). He was a former member of Epworth United Church. In his younger days he coached little league baseball; but mostly Sonny will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man who had a great sense of humour. Sonny is survived by his five daughters, Lerita Murrin (Allen), Cathy MacDonald (Jack), Kelly Talbot, Joanne Talbot, Gloria Talbot, five sons, Billy, Blaine, Dwaine, Allister, Freddie, four sisters, Marl, Sis, Delia, Eve, several grandchildren and a very special great granddaughter, Serenity, who was his best friend, dancing partner and main squeeze. Besides his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his wife, Jen (Gilmet) Talbot, grandson, Michael, his brothers and sisters and his best friend, his dog, Sheba. Visitation is Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. followed by a chapel service on Monday at 11 a.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Rev. Bob Biggar officiating. Cremation to follow with interment in Greenwood Cemetery Glace Bay, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia, Canada at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
