In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
RYAN, Louis Harold - age 82, of Elmsdale. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Lou Ryan on Friday, July 3, 2020 at his home in Elmsdale surrounded by family and friends. Lou was born in Hartington, Ontario to the late Norman and Eva (Walker) Ryan. Lou enjoyed life to the fullest, loved his family and friends and always greeted everyone with a smile or a handshake. Once he got to know you, there would be a joke thrown in. Lou was a very active, kind and generous man, with a servant’s heart to many. His greatest love was his wife, Beatrice with whom he shared many passions, whether it be travelling to Ontario to visit family and friends, operating Light House Fish & Chips together serving many customers in the community who remain friends to this day, checking out yard sales, buying and selling, Jamborees, and puttering around the homestead being creative and sharing time with family and friends. Lou spent 38 years employed by the federal government, serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, Search and Rescue, as well as other positions. He was a valued employee of Atlantic Cat for 10 years, and prior to his death, Lou was House, Grounds and Building Manager at E H Horne School, Enfield. Lou was a volunteer director for the Elmsdale Cemetery and a trustee for the Nine Mile River Community Hall. Lou is survived by his beloved wife, Beatrice Barron-Ryan; son, Tim (Gail) Barron, Elmsdale; daughters, Judy Barron, Lower Sackville; Kim Ryan, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Barron Rygiel, Kearney Lake; Briana Barron, Dartmouth; sister, Doreen Abrams, Hartington, Ont.; brothers, Rodney (Marge), Wayne (Sheila), all of Kingston, Ont.; many nieces and nephews.
