LEGGETT, William (Papa) - Predeceased by his loving wife, Isabell, June 6, 2004. He leaves to mourn, his loving son Bill and daughter-in-law Sylvia. Bill was Grandfather to Rosalind (Jody) Wilkinson, Andrea (John) Jardim; great-grandfather to Wade and Jordan Wilkinson. He is also survived by his younger brother Art Leggett, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends near and far. Bill was born and raised in Rocky Mountain House. At 17 he joined the Navy as a Boy Seaman, served in active duty in World War II and was wounded in action. After retiring from the Navy he worked at Heaney's moving for several years, and then BC Liquor Board until his retirement. He was a proud supporter of BCGEU and the Chief and Petty Officers Association. A memorial service will be held in honor of Bill's life at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4725 Falaise Dr, on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow at the Chief and Petty Officers Mess at 1:00pm Flowers gratefully declined, but a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Ships served in: HMCS NADEN - Enlisted 01 Mar 1937 HMCS SKEENA - Drafted to Skeena - Mar 1937 HMCS COMOX - Commissioning crew HMCS ASSINIBOINE - Drafted to Assiniboine Nov 1939 HMCS NIAGARA - Commissioning crew HMCS ASSINIBOINE - Drafted to Assiniboine in 1942 as a LSCR2. Bill was serving in Assiniboine during her action against U-210 and was wounded in action.
