In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BUSH, Charles Leonard (Charlie) - passed away at Health Sciences North, Wednesday, December 24th, 2014 at the age of 90. Charles, also affectionately known as Charlie is predeceased by his parents, Leonard Blake and Cordella Bush (Furlong), wife Aline Bertha Bush (Lacelle), and sister Eileen Furlong (Charron). Charlie is lovingly remembered by his sister Patsy Furlong (Gervais), brother Arnold (Bud) Furlong, sisters Stephanie, Patsy, Mary (Maggie) and brothers Leonard, Frisco (Leonard), Tony (Joseph), Michael (James), Conrad (Arthur) and John (Mark) Blake. Charlie will be missed by his children Jeanne Bush (Newcomb) of Ship Harbor, Nova Scotia, Gary and Diane Bush, of Surrey, British Columbia, and Clifford and Sue Bush of Chelmsford, Ontario. Charlie will also be missed by many grandchildren. Charlie was born and raised in Wahnapitae, Ontario, in 1924. Charlie enjoyed playing hockey. His love for the Montreal Canadiens endured his whole life. Charlie was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. At the age of 17, Charlie joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served for 25 years, retiring in 1967. Charlie served during WWII and did two tours to Korea in the Royal Canadian Navy. After his release from the Navy, Charlie worked for Falconbridge Ltd, retiring in 1989. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at Health Sciences North, 5th Floor South Tower and St. Gabriel’s Villa staff for their excellent care and compassion. Visitation in the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St., Sudbury, 2-5; 7-9pm Monday with a memorial service at 7:30pm Monday under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76, Sudbury. Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 30th, 2014, at 11:30am. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Park Lawn Cemetery. Ships served in: HMCS HAIDA - Served in Haida in 1947 as L/Sto, RCN HMCS IROQUOIS - Served in Iroquois in 1949 and as a P1EM3 during her 3rd Korean war tour. HMCS NOOTKA - Served in Nootka in 1950 HMCS HURON - Served in Huron in 1951 and 1960 HMCS ALGONQUIN - Served in Algonquin in 1956
