Macdonald, Robert Peter (Bob) - It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Robert "Bob" MacDonald. Bob resided with his family in Upper Tantallon. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 in the VG Site, QEII, in Halifax. Born in Sault Ste Marie, Ont., he was a son of the late Douglas and Marie MacDonald. He is survived by his loving wife, Janis (Weatherbie) MacDonald; daughters, Brianna and Kiara, both at home; sister, Lee Ann Perri; brother, Scott MacDonald; niece, Stephanie Perri; nephew, Daniel Perri (Alissa) and their daughters, Abigail and Hannah; all of Sault Ste Marie, Ont.; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob moved to Halifax at the age of 18 to join the Royal Canadian Navy. During his 36 year career as a marine engineer, he travelled to ports all over the world. He retired from the navy in 2016 and began his second career with SNC Lavalin, where he worked up until his illness. He met his wife Jan in 1986 and they married in 1989. Together they adopted two baby girls from China. Bob's girls were the light of his life, his pride and joy. He liked nothing better than to cheer Kiara on at her hockey games, or to listen to Brianna play piano. In his spare time, Bob loved spending time with his family, watching the History channel, and meeting for coffee with his best friend of almost 40 years Vic Budgell. Bob was predeceased by his father, Douglas MacDonald and his mother, Marie (Scornaiencki) MacDonald. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25th, from 6-8 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Funeral to be held Wednesday, August 26th, at 11 a.m. in Halifax Christian Church, 51 Farnham Gate Rd., Halifax. The funeral will also be live-streamed on the Halifax Christian Church Facebook and YouTube pages. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the palliative care team at the VG hospital and the nurses, doctors and receptionists at the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Lara Best, whose expert care and unfailing kindness and compassion made this whole process easier to bear.  "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
