DRUMMOND, Cecil William - After a valiant effort for life, Cec passed away at Hospice surrounded by his family on Monday, August 10, 1998. His constant optimism and courage gave his family and friends strength throughout his battle with kidney cancer. Our dear Cec will be forever missed by his loving family; wife, Glenna; daughters, Carollyn (Mike) Cross, Joanne (Greg) Davidson, Sandra Drummond; step-daughters, Kathryn Karst, Janet (David) Ricciuti, Rosemary Karst. A devoted grandfather to Matthew, Geoffrey, Rob, Jarrod, Kelly, Dominic and Lucas; he is also survived by his brothers, Leonard, Andrew, Robert and sister, Helen Cameron; and many nieces and nephews. Cec was born in Ferintosh, Alberta on July 10, 1932. He proudly served for 25 years in the Royal Canadian navy. His tour of duty included service in the Korean War for which he was awarded three medals of distinction. He retired having the rank of Master Warrant Officer in 1974. Cec then was employed for 23 years with Canada Pension Plan. Over the years he enjoyed curling, golf, fishing and patiently participated in many a home renovation. He was happiest and at most peace with his family and friends at his beloved Spider Lake. His great spirit will be felt in all his favourite places; his garden, Spider Lake and Canadian Tire. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Cec's life at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street, Victoria, BC. Mr. Gordon Thurston officiating. A reception will follow in the Sands Arbor Reception Centre. Following cremation, inurnment will take place in the Royal Oak Burial Park Columbarium at a later date. If friends so wish, donations in Cec's memory may be made to the Victoria Hospice Society, 1900 Fort Street, Victoria, BC or the charity of one's choice.
