Yeoman of Signals Edgar Hilton Wells died of natural causes at H.M.C. signal station at Turple Head near Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Yeoman of Signals Edgar Hilton Wells had a distinguished record of service, in the navy; both in the this war and the First World War. In the last war, he had the distinction of serving with King George VI, aboard H.M.S. Collingwood, in the battle of Jutland. He was also proud of his achievement of service. He served on a submarine, at the time of the Baltic fighting in Russia, in 1920. In addition he served with the Royal Irish Constabulary, and was retired with a pension from this force when it was disbanded in 1922. At the outbreak of the present war Mr. Wells was called into service with the Canadian Navy, and was posted to a station in Sydney for a time but was later called to Halifax where he served at various stations. Besides his widow, who resides at 353 Dutch Village Road, one daughter survives, Mrs. Evelyn Feacey also living on Dutch Village Road.
