HAM, Wesley Douglas - In his 76th year, Wesley Douglas Ham, after a battle with cancer, died peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 1998. Born in Hamilton, Ontario to Charlie and Alice Ham, schooled in Clinton, he joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve and served on the corvette H.M.C.S. Copper Cliff in the North Atlantic during World War II. He graduated from the University of Toronto, School of Practical Science, and practiced Civil Engineering with the former Ontario Department of Highways until his retirement. He led a happy life, pursuing numerous hobbies and outdoor activities, foremost among them numismatics, ham radio, motorcycling, skiing, and ski patrolling, until felled by a series of strokes. He is survived by his wife Frances, sons John (Cory), Peter (Valerie), Robert (Christine), daughter Martha, and grandsons Alexander and Vincent, with whom he recently celebrated Thanksgiving. Requiescat in Pace. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 26, 11 a.m. at All Saints' Anglican Church in Huntsville. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 25 from 7-9 p.m. at the Addison Funeral Home, 15 High St., Huntsville. The family requests that donations be made to the Hurricane Mitch Relief Fund through the Anglican Church in Huntsville, or a charity of your choice. (Globe and Mail 25 Nov 1998)
