In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SHANNON, William Donald - (26 September 2020) Age 88, of Dartmouth passed away suddenly on September 26, 2020. Born in Brantford Ontario, he was a son of the late John and Katherine Shannon. Bill joined the Canadian Armed Forces at the early age of 18, serving on several naval ships over the course of his career. It was while stationed in Northern Ireland where he met the love of his life and married Elizabeth and came to Canada to live. He was an outstanding member of Brightwood Golf & Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, snooker, bowling and cards. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth; daughters, Christine (Bryan) Wenzoski, Golden, BC; Gwen (JP) Arseneault, Lake Echo; son, John Shannon, Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Noraye Norwiss, Vancouver, BC; Tashina and Jordan , Wenzoski, Golden BC; Julia (Jake) Parsons, Musquodoboit Harbour; great granddaughter, Carlee Elizabeth Parsons. After retirement from the Navy, Bill worked at the Halifax Dockyard for fourteen years. Bill was a kind and caring father who loved his family with all his heart, and will be remembered with much love always. Cremation has taken place, a Private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to War Amps or charity of choice. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 01 Oct 2020)
