In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FORMO, Orville Sylvian - 86, of Lumby, BC, passed away peacefully, on September 24, 2020, after fighting cancer. Orville (Orv) was born on, December 2, 1933 in Naicam, Saskatchewan, to parents, Ida and Albert Formo. He grew up with 7 siblings, on the farm, in Naicam. As a teen Orville loved driving tractors and trucks, where he found his calling, as a mechanic. Orville moved from Saskatchewan, to Penticton, BC, and then joined the Royal Canadian Navy, in the 1950's, where he was an Engineer Mechanic. Orv went on to become a Professional truck driver, after leaving the Navy and moving to Vancouver, then Abbotsford, and also became a business owner and mechanic, of a heavy duty mechanics shop, for over 20 years. After the sudden death, of his wife, Leona, Orville moved and retired, in Williams Lake and Lumby, BC. In 1958, Orville, met and married the love of his life, Leona, and where they went on to raise, their three children, Doulas, Grant and Shannon, in Vancouver and Abbotsford. As a family they loved to travel in Canada and the USA, especially visiting family and friends, in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. For Orville, being kind and a dependable father was the utmost importance and he definitely did not disappoint when it came to always putting family first. His gift, to help anyone, and his strong faith, and to always make people feel welcome and at ease, especially, with his sense of humor and making people laugh made a lasting impression on everyone who met and knew him. Orville had a love of all animals, especially his dogs. Orville was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, in BC, and was an active member, in attending all Remembrance Day ceremonies. Orville loved sports, especially the NHL and CFL, especially being, a Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. Orv, also played hockey and was a hockey referee, in addition, playing other sports, such as curling, golf and fishing. His love for music, and playing the guitar, singing and writing love songs, for his wife, where part of his enduring and loving qualities. Orville was pre-deceased by his wife Leona, in September 1990 and his son Douglas Formo, in May 2016. Orville is survived by his two children, son, Grant (Nancy) and daughter, Shannon, and his 6 grandchildren; Ben (Sara), Brian (Stephanie), Joanna (Danny), Joe (Alana), Kari (Jon) and Sylvain, and his four great grandchildren; Annabelle, Aleyia, Arya, and Charlie. He was also survived by his brother Floyd, and sister in laws, Peggy and Bev and daughter-in-law, Kathy. There will be no funeral service for Orville, as per to his request, but there will be a private burial service, by invite only, and to comply with current Covid-19 restrictions.
