In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FYNN, John James - Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Union Villa Nursing Home in his 90th year. John was born May 11, 1923 in Toronto to Alfred and Doris (Clapham) Fynn. Predeceased (June 2012) by his wife, Geneva Beryl of 65 years. Sadly missed by sons Ian (Lynne), Andrew (Cathi), grandsons Jeffrey (Eugenie) and Daniel. Survived by his sister Anne Hughes and family. A World War II navy veteran, he was stationed on the East Coast of Canada and England patrolling the North Atlantic. It was in Pictou, Nova Scotia that he met Geneva. In retirement, they purchased a summer residence in the area, on the ocean, which became a gathering place for family, friends and relatives. John worked for North York Hydro for 33 years. He assisted Herb Carnegie at the Future Aces Hockey School for many years. His love for playing soccer and hockey was only exceeded by watching his two grandsons participate in sports. A memorial service will be held at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street, Toronto on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff of Union Villa for all their support. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Unionville Home Society, Alzheimer Society of Canada or Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
